The 13th Annual CLKD Charity Golf Classic was held at Ainsdale golf course on one of the best golf weather days we have seen in weeks. On July 16th, 100 golfers hit the course to help raise funds to enhance services for individuals living with a developmental disability in our community.
The tournament featured staggered start times for a safe and fun 18 holes of golf, prizes purchased from local businesses through a sponsorship from EPCOR, donated prizes from Bruce Power and Ainsdale Golf Course, lunch, power carts and a putting contest sponsored by Bruce Telecom.
We were unsure of hosting the tournament this year because of the pandemic but the owners of Ainsdale Golf Course Taylor and Charles Candler were so helpful during the planning of the event to ensure the safety of our golfers while still offering a great experience. As it turns out, this has been one of our most successful tournaments! The weather was perfect, our golfers had a great time and thanks to our sponsors, fundraisers and golfers, we exceeded our $15,000 goal and raised $21,000 to enhance our programs and services. We wish to express our sincere gratitude for our Change Maker Sponsor Larry Bannerman and our Lunch Sponsor 2M Power.
Funds raised at this tournament can help an individual to start their first job, create fun opportunities for youth to learn new skills, connect members to recreational activities in the community, provide safe and comfortable homes for adults and offer support and respite for families.
Community Living Kincardine and District is already looking forward to next year’s tournament which has been booked for July 15th, 2022 at the beautiful Ainsdale Golf Course!
