Making Room

There is something quietly remarkable about the trees in September

They do not resist the changing season.  They do not cling to every leaf as the days grow shorter or mourn the warmth of summer as it gently slips away.  Instead, they surrender with a kind of quiet confidence, trusting that what appears to be an ending is simply part of a much larger story.

Nature understands something we so often forget. There is beauty in letting go.

We, however, are not always so willing. We hold tightly to routines, expectations, former versions of ourselves, and seasons of life that have already begun to change. I often wonder whether letting go is really about losing anything at all. Perhaps it is simply about trusting that life knows when it is time to make room for something new.

Making room for a new friendship, an unexpected opportunity, for a different way of seeing ourselves and the world around us.

The older I get, the more I find myself looking to nature for gentle reminders.  Every season has its purpose.  Spring awakens, summer flourishes, Autumn releases and winter rests.

One season is no more important than another, and no season lasts forever.

Perhaps our lives are meant to unfold the same way.  Maybe every transition carries with it an invitation-not a fear of what is ending but a wonder around what is beginning.

As September settles in, I notice the changing light, the crisp morning air, and the first leaves drifting quietly to the ground. They do not fall because they are weak; they fall because nature knows that creating something new often requires letting go. The tree trusts there is another season ahead.

Perhaps we can learn from that quiet wisdom and contemplate that letting go is not the end of our story…maybe just maybe,  it is simply how we make room for what comes next.
