DID YOU KNOW? — KINCARDINE EDITION

Phantom Piper Magic

Since 1972, a lone bagpiper has played at sunset at the Kincardine Lighthouse before disappearing into the evening — a volunteer tradition locals cherish.

We Almost Had a Different Name!

Kincardine was briefly called Pennefather in the 1850s before its Scottish roots inspired the current name.

A Carnegie Connection

Our local library was funded by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, who helped build over 2,500 libraries worldwide.

Shipwrecks Offshore

The waters of Lake Huron off Kincardine’s coast hold historic shipwrecks from the area’s early shipping days.

One of the Oldest Pipe Bands

The Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, founded in 1908, is one of Ontario’s oldest continuous pipe bands.
