Powering Possibility: Generator Project Complete at Saratoga Home

We are thrilled to announce the completion of a vital project that’s already making a big impact — the installation of a commercial-grade generator at the Saratoga home!

With growing reliance on electricity for essential daily supports like personal lifts, CPAP machines, power wheelchairs, and home safety systems, a consistent power supply isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity. Thanks to our incredible community of donors and grant partners, CLKD raised $75,000 to install a generator that ensures uninterrupted power, even during outages, to the Saratoga home.

The difference is already being felt by the people who call Saratoga home:“I am happy we won’t lose power anymore… I know my power chair and lift are going to be charged. I am also so happy I get to use my computer!” - Randy“We are looking forward to being able to still do things on our iPads and being able to cook, even during an outage.” - Catherine“I will love having the lights stay on when there is a power outage.” - Jen (translated)

Jen’s father, Chris, shared his relief as well:“She won’t be calling me anymore to ask me to go to work to get the lights back on!”

Family members are just as thankful. Cheryl Smith, grandmother of a resident, said:“I think it’s fantastic — so no one is in the dark with nothing to do.”

We are incredibly grateful to Community Foundation Grey Bruce’s Capital Grant program, the Harry E Foster Foundation, and the Trillium Mutual Insurance Fund for helping make this project a reality. And to everyone in our community who donated — thank you for believing in this mission.
