All Kids Can Play training is now available online and on-demand!  

 

The 6-part video series and downloadable resources are designed for recreation leaders - staff, volunteers, coaches and parents – who are working to make their programs more welcoming, inclusive and accessible to children of all abilities!  

Part 1: Introduction

An overview of the All Kids Can Play training program and learn why it’s important for recreation leaders like you – coaches, volunteers, staff and managers – to create more inclusive and welcoming programs and activities.

Part 2: The Philosophy of Inclusion

How we think about diversity, disabilities and differences shape how we act. Learn what it takes to build an inclusive mindset and embrace participants of all abilities.

Part 3: The Inclusive Pyramid

The best way to build an inclusive program is from the ground up. Based on the models created by the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning and Kids Included Together, the Inclusive Pyramid used in All Kids Can Play lays out a framework for putting the inclusive philosophy into action.

Part 4: Foundational Supports

Foundational Supports are the most important building block for a truly inclusive program. They encompass organizational-wide policies, practices and approaches that solidify a commitment to inclusion.

Creating a program that is welcoming and accessible for as many children as possible means examining the physical location, program materials, schedules while incorporating self-regulation tools and effective communication techniques.

Each child is unique – and each child will have their own perspective on what quality participation feels like. Individualized supports are all about providing proactive supports that help contribute to an authentic sense of belonging and a positive, enjoyable experience.

The All Kids Can Play training program was created in partnership with Grey Bruce Inclusive Playgroup. This project was made possible by a series of grants from Community Foundation Grey Bruce.
